When it comes to unique dining experiences in Niagara Falls, The Blind Pig is a must-visit for food lovers. A few weeks ago, one of my best friends and I had the pleasure of dining there, and it was an evening to remember.
Delicious Starters
We kicked off our meal with the pickle poutine. The portion was huge, practically a meal in itself, and it was SO good. Crispy fries topped with seasoning salt, ranch, dill spice, and chopped pickles—it was a perfect start.
Mouthwatering Mains
For our main course, we both opted for the Big Pig burger with Caesar salad on the side. The burger was incredible, like all your favourite fast food meals but made with high-quality ingredients and a lot of love. It hit the spot perfectly.
About The Blind Pig
The name "Blind Pig" is steeped in history. It’s a century-old term that dates back to the 1920s Prohibition era, where speakeasies were the only places to get bootlegged alcohol, controlled by figures like Al Capone. There are two versions of how the term “Blind Pig” came about. One suggests it was a blue-collar dive bar for the average worker, while the other describes an establishment where patrons paid admission to see an attraction, such as a blind pig, and received a “complimentary” cup of alcohol—a clever loophole to the rules.
Though Prohibition is often associated with the U.S., it was also in effect in Ontario between 1916 and 1927. Today, The Blind Pig honours this history by providing a comfortable, welcoming environment where you can enjoy great food and raise a glass to the past.
Mission Statement
The Blind Pig’s mission is simple: Make great food at a reasonable price, provide top-notch professional service, and create a welcoming environment that makes you want to come back.
